About Nikki

Water engineer, mom of three, and author of Ripple & Friends.

Nichol “Nikki” Ingram, P.E., is a licensed Professional Engineer and Project Engineer at City of Tyler Water Utilities in Tyler, Texas. She holds a B.S. in Biological and Agricultural Engineering, with a minor in Sustainability, from the University of Arkansas.

Nikki works on the plants and pipes that keep a community’s water safe, and she has seen how little of that work the public ever sees. She advocates for water education and STEM outreach, and she wrote Ripple to give kids a way into that world.

Ripple’s first book grew out of her capstone project for the Transformative Water Leadership Academy. Since then she has shared Ripple with more than 200 students, using surveys before and after to see what they learn.

She is a mom of three, and 10% of proceeds from her books support Texas AWWA scholarships for future water professionals.

“If people don’t understand what we do, they won’t value it.”
